House Fairy Testimonials

The House Fairy is a genius!! My soon to be 3 year old DS has so many things especially after Christmas that I was going crazy trying to get it all picked up at night. Most nights IÕd just throw up my hands and go to bed exhausted. I had tried several things to get him to pick up behind himself but most of them ended in discipline or threats of discipline. I hated putting him to bed each night after a long, frustrating argument to get the toys picked up. Then in comes the House Fairy email and I said Òwhat have I got to lose Ð a few dollars?Ó I subscribed right away and he has not complained or refused to pick up the toys at all. He is telling everybody about the House Fairy and all the things she brings him and the notes she leaves. HeÕs even wanting to clean up the rest of the house. He mopped for me last night Ð not perfectly but at least the areas that he did get are clean. I praised him and said we would leave the House Fairy a note about all the extra things that he was doing. He has swiped the toilet as I was cleaning the bathroom and swept the porch where the cat food was spilled. He ÒseesÓ the messes now and is willing to help straighten them up. Earlier this week we put picture cards on his containers for the toys to make it easier for him to know where things need to be put. He knows now where his socks go and his underwear and even his shoes (maybe I need to put picture cards on DHÕs drawers Ð LOL). He is keeping me on my toes and I am finding that I am not skipping my routines because he is paying attention to the messes that everyone leaves behind.

The House Fairy is brilliant.

Our children love it. Mr 5yr old is running around the house cleaning everything. His confidence is also through the roof as he feels valuable, capable and knows he's a good kid.

Also as a struggling Flybaby, with two babies and a disabled Dad to help look after, I've been loving the videos of The House Fairy, they are teaching the whole family visually. It's good to watch the processes of cleaning a room or a drawer. The best $10 we ever spent.

Dear FlyLady,

I want to thank you for all you do to encourage me! And thank you, too, for House Fairy. She is just wonderful! I signed up my 7yo daughter, Rachel and she watched several videos before House Fairy brought her the Welcome Letter. Rachel and I talked about what House Fariy would do and bring, and we were both wondering what House Fairy's Fairy Dust would be like, since you never know what will come out of that wand, that naughty little Tinkerbell! Well, if it was glitter, how would we clean it up? Would we have to vacuum each time the House Fairy visited? Would she throw it all over the room? Would she leave it in a pile on the pillow? Would she pile it on the desk? Hmmmmm, the Fairy Dust was a real mystery for us. And then, House Fairy came! You know what came out of that Fairy Wand? A handful of curly ribbon! It's dark pink and light pink and white and silver, and so pretty, like a gift! We found a pink carabineer and locked it to Rachel's shelf and each time House Fairy comes and leaves the ribbon dust, we tie it to the carabineer and it's turning into a beautiful room decoration! What a lovely reminder of how Proud House Fairy is of Rachel, and how House Fairy and Mom work together to show Rachel how to have a neat and clean and wonderful bedroom. Thank you! It's so good when we can teach our daughter's how to FLY!

The House Fairy rocks! In just two weeks of visits, I am amazed at how little I am having to say about cleaning rooms. I have a ds11, dd8 and dd3. I didn't really think it would have a huge impact -- I just figured it was a cute way to keep after them. I never expected that they would be able to clean up their rooms without constant reminders from me! Now the older kids I'm pretty sure know it is me, but they are willing to "play along" to get the little treat. Of course the 3 year old is all over this -- "House fairy wouldn't like that on the floor!" and "Maybe she comin' today!"

Now one of the things I worried about was the scenario in which one child would not earn the reward, and how upset she or he would be. I mean, I know it is fair and a logical consequence, but still was not looking forward to that aspect. Then I hit on the idea of having my husband in on it too -- I figured he could "take" not getting a reward, and the kids could see it was not automatic. So sure enough, on the day "she" came, she left a note and a little treat on each of the kids' pillows, but on my husband's pillow there was just a note saying "Too many clothes need to be put away - maybe next time!" Well the kids were quite amused to think they had done a better job than their dad. I was pretty happy that the message had gotten across. Now the funny part - without me saying a word, guess who put away his pants that had been piling up on the chair in our room? Yup -- dh wanted a treat too. So, the house fairy is not just for kids! How great to get results without nagging -- thanks for the great ideas!
