Tired of Cleaning on the Weekends by The FlyLady, Marla Cilley
Did you ever wish you could have a friend to help you clean house? Housework is such a thankless job, no wonder we put it off till we can't stand to live in that mess another minute. We tell ourselves that we don't have time. You have made every excuse you can come up with for not doing anything. All I want to do is get you to quit making excuses and do something. If you work outside your home then you have become an expert at excuses. I have heard them all.
Excuses
- I don't have time to do anything in the morning, because we have to leave the house at "0 dawn 30". Your system only works for people who stay home all day!
- When I get home from work, there is so much to do that I never get finished and I can't do a before bed routine.
- I don't have time to think about dinner, much less prepare it. How can I fix healthy meals for my family and work?
- My house is too big to do a weekly home blessing in one hour!
- I don't have a spare minute in a day to do any zone missions.
- When I get home, all I want to do is crash!
- Your emails come all during the day and I am not home to get them. This can't work for me.
- I work a mid-night shift. How can this help my family?
- This go to bed at a decent hour is the only time I get to myself. Why can't I stay up later? WHI-I-I-I-NE!
- My husband doesn't help me do anything around the house, he is such a slob, and how can I fix him?
- I can't possibly have a basic weekly plan for my shopping and desk/bill paying; I never know what I am going to be doing from one minute to the next.
- I used to be born organized, until we had babies and I went back to work.
- FlyLady's pamper yourself missions are for the birds, I don't have time to shower, much less take a bubble bath.
- I am so tired after getting home from work, that it is all I can do to throw something together for supper and help the children with their homework and put them to bed. My husband and I are losing touch. What can we do to save our marriage?
- Every time I clean up a hot spot, by husband junks it back up.
- I have a baby and when I get home from work, all I want to do is give the baby my full attention.
- I am not a morning person; I have a hard time getting up.
- I am playing taxi with my children after work, that I don't have time to do anything.
- How can I do a weekly home blessing hour, I don't have 60 minutes in one block of time the whole week?
Have you heard any of these excuses coming out of your mouth? There is hope if you will take a few minutes to establish simple habits and string them into routines. Our routines keep you from having to spend your weekends cleaning. This gives you more time for family fun and you.
